And Kai wasn't in Ninjago, he was at the Tree of Life with his teammates because after they defeated Scar Kai got a scar of his own by a Cobra. And today they were preparing to go back to Ninjago today. Months after the others defeated the Crystal King AKA the Overlord. And when Kai and his teammates do return to the monastery how will he react when he sees Nya and his parents and more over how will Nya react when she sees Kai.
