On their way back from the Tree of Life to battle Zira, Kion and Fuli were separated from the rest during a sandstorm. About two years later, and with all hope given up, Vitani reaches out to a mysterious individual to carry out a mission.
In the years since Kion and Fuli's disappearance, Vitani is ordered by the Royal Family to carry out an unsavory task against an unsavory kingdom: assassinate the princess of the Freelands. However, they also wish to see if Kion is there, as reports of a lion captured recently have reached them.
Vitani gains the services of a mercenary, but what plans do they have? What are they planning to do?

Kiongozi, prince of the Pridelands, 3rd cub to Nala and Simba, Leader of the Lion Guard, and defender of the kingdom, was always neglected by his father. His older siblings, Kiara and Kopa, hurt him mentally and physically, and Nala pretended like he didn't exist. Kion hated his life. He did everything for his family, and they still treated him like a nobody. The Lion Guard wasn't any better. They tried to convince him of suicide, and Kion almost went through with it, but he couldn't. Kion hated being treated like this. He couldn't take the abuse or neglect any more. He cried in his grandmother Sarabi's arms every night. She was the only one who cared for him. She tried getting Nala to love him, but Nala refused. That night, Kion finally fell asleep with his grandmother, but that was the last night he would ever see her again... Without his grandmother, everything just got worse. Kion ran away. One day the Guard was patrolling and went to the Watering Hole because it was so hot out, when they get there a few moments passed and Kion gets bit by a snake and he gets horribly sick and possibly dying. The Guard goes on a journey to find the remedy, but while they are out there a teammate is the most worried about Kion out of them all: Fuli. She knew him as a cub and thinking about him getting taken away like that, it makes her sad and it doesn't help with the feelings she has for him.
