Camille wants to enjoy her vacation, write a new book, and bask in being alone with her dog before returning to mom life. She's made it a point to be very careful: with her life, with her children, and with her heart. She loves to stay to herself, with a good book and a bottle of wine. As passionate as she is about her family and goals in life, she lacks in the love department. After a hard divorce from her children's father and after Dame broke her heart all those years ago, she fears falling in love almost as much as she fears she will end up forever alone. Now everywhere she looks, a member of the Hayes family is always pulling her in, and Dame can't seem to take the hint that she wants nothing to do with him.

Damien is sure the universe is giving him one last chance to make things right with the only girl he's ever loved. He wants to mend things with Camille. He feels he's finally ready for a relationship and wants to pursue her, no matter how much she pushes him away.
