Heatwave and Quickshadow are a happily married couple who live in Fort Worth Texas. They soon have a baby boy named Hot shot and they love him very much. Hot shot starts to grow into a very happy and healthy five year old. Hot shot loves to run, jump, climb and play. However when in June, Hot shot starts to feel unwell. Hot shot is tired all time, he is pale, he has a fever that won't go away, he is weak, he is pale, he bleeds more from minor cuts and scrapes, he is bruising easily, and his bruises don't seem to be healing. Hot shot's parents decide to take him to see his pediatrician. Who sends them to Cook Children's Dodson specialty clinics to see a special doctor. Hot shot is scared of what may happen. Then all kinds of tests are done by the special doctor he was sent too. Hot shot is then diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL a type of blood cancer. Hot shot is going to be brave and fight his cancer. Hot shot soon makes friends with four other kids his age in the hospital with the same type of cancer. They decide to fight their cancer together.
