Calliope has been abused, had her mom killed before her own eyes, ran away and lived in an adoption center were not a soul likes her except for the babies in the nursery. When her mother's closest friend comes and adopts her Calliope doesn't expect for anything good. What she finds is a safe house her mother and friend bought for Calliope when things went bad. When Calliope moves in and starts going to Ashbury High school, she is immediately outcast because of the tear shaped scar on her left cheekbone. Then she meets Rosemary, a modern day hippie. They become friends and it helps Calliope put her past behind her. When Calliope finds love, she doesn't expect it to last. But the biggest shock Calliope finds is what she finds on her doorstep.
