Mrs. Mariena looks at herself in the bathroom mirror through puffy red eyes.
"She's dead..." she whimpers to her husband.
"Don't, Mara." He interrupts her sharply. Their eyes meet in the reflection. "If we think like that, we will never find her."
"Danny, we fucked up...and now-"
"Don't say another damn word Mara." He says through gritted teeth and drags her to their front door. The voices get louder a they approach the threshold. Danny opens the door and holds his emotional wifes hand, guiding her to the porch. They're bombarded with questions by the reporters before Mr. Mariena quiets them down.
"Skye Mariena, our daughter has been missing for eleven months. Her birthday passed, and she's eighteen now." He chokes on his words. "We planned a family trip for her birthday, but we didn't get to go. Instead, we were standing on our porch... right here...begging for whoever took her to come forward and put our family back together. Today, we hear her heart broken mother, and I beg you to once again to bring our daughter ba-"
"If she's dead, at least tell us where she is!" Mara screamed, facing the cameras. The crowd gasps.
"Where's my daughter!" She wails. "My baby is gone, and it's because of you!" She hits her husband in the face. Chaos takes over the interview. Police grab Mara and Danny, seperating them and escorting them inside their house. Cameras flash and reporters question what she meant.
"You saw it live everyone, is this a new revelation in the ongoing investigation of the now eighteen year old Skyes disappearance." A reporter says to her camera. The door shuts, leaving the world stunned.
