It happens every year before homecoming-- the list is posted all over school. Two girls are picked from each grade. One is named teh prettiest, one the ugliest. The girls who arent picked are quickly forgotten. The girls who are become the center of attention, and each reacts differently to the experience. Abby's joy at being named the prettiest is clouded by her sisters resentment. Danielle worries about how her boyfriend will take the news. Laurren is a homeschooled girl blindsided by her instant popularity. Candace isnt ugly, not even close, this must be a mistake. Bridget knows her summer transformation isnt something to celebrate. Sarah has always rebelled against tradiitional standards of beauty, and she decided to tkae her munity to the next level. And Margo and Jennifer, ex-best friends who havent spoken in years, are forced to confront why their relationship ended.

All that high school junior Ellie Morris-Whittaker wants is to play division one soccer in college. Good thing she has a full ride to a super-prestige prep school, right? But her history grades are tanking, and losing her scholarship means bye bye prep school. Enter her new tutor, William - the hot student council president she can't stop thinking about. And even though he's kinda-sorta dating someone else, it's pretty clear he's also kinda-sorta crushing on Ellie. It's her own personal purgatory, until William's troublesome, varsity star striker brother Theo proposes a solution: a fake dating ruse.
