After Abigail was brutally attacked leaving an art show, she struggled to pick up a paint brush again after the grueling recovery. Her husband, Benjamin, purchased them a new home in a safe neighborhood where he cared for her during her recovery. In an attempt to take some of the stress off of Abigail while she balances taking care of their daughter and trying to continue her career as an artist, her husband hires Elijah to help with work around the house.
When someone suddenly starts leaving letters for Abigail, she finds herself being consumed by this need to uncover the truth and discovering the missing details that could lead to her attacker and expose her husband's infidelity. She turns to Elijah for advice, but as they get closer, she finds herself unable to avoid the attraction she has for him.
Were the letters even real or was it some sick game created by her haunting attacker to ruin her life for good this time? Was her husband really unfaithful or was the anonymous writer giving her the last bit of motivation she needed to act on her feelings for the young pool boy her husband hired?

[Book 2 in the Secret series] "That's not what I meant..." I chew on my lip. "Well, what the fuck did you mean then?" He shouts. "When I'm there I don't have to think about you!" I yell back. Wrong choice of words again, Sophia. I curse myself. His form immediately stands and he strides over to me, he is now inches away from me, his body is so close to mine that I am forced to take a couple of steps backwards. My back is pressed up against the window. Noah's breathing is deep but he speaks softly, "when you're there all I can think about is you." He raises his hand and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. I step around him and head for the door, "uh I'm going to go to the hospital." I pick up my bag and rush out of the door leaving Noah in the room and saving myself from doing something I would definitely regret and make me change my mind about going back to Pennsylvania. ------------ 'I love you too,' were the last words Sophia heard before she was banished from her home city and she left without a second thought. If she didn't she knew she would be in danger. A month and a half later Sophia returns as a person close to her is in critical condition in hospital. Everyone's eyes are on Sophia, and they are looking for someone to blame. Will she return to her new life and forget about New York once and for all? Or will she fit right back into the McKenzie's life as if she never left? And as for her relationship with Noah, there might be a chance for romance after all.

"My name's Elijah, by the way. It's nice to meet you, window-girl." She liked that name: Elijah. "I doubt you're even listening, but, look, I'm not here to cause problems, you know? I'm just here to chat. It can get lonely when we segregate ourselves into our own little world. I mean, maybe you like it in there," he continued, as she stared at the door separating them, "but, in case you don't, I'd like to offer my company." Instead of panicking, Liza could only focus on four words he'd said. 'Our own little world.' How had he known? She was in her own little world, consisting of her, her dog, the condo, and now, maybe . . .? Her voice was barely a croak when she spoke to him for the first time. "I'm listening." ***  A horribly tragedy left Liza Garner tucked inside her condo, the only safe place she knew, terrified of the outside world and the people within it. Especially men. A change in living brought Elijah Harris into a nice new neighborhood, and he'd never been afraid of knocking on others' doors and introducing himself. Especially if a pretty woman was on the other side. This is a story about mental health, the amazing impact certain individuals can have on one's personal journey, and how making progress-no matter how seemingly insignificant-is always impressive. *** PLEASE NOTE: Rated mature for language, topics, and detailed descriptions of gore.
