Prologue

My name is Angie. I am eighteen years old. I'm...different than everyone else. How you ask?

I'm only 98% human.

The other 2% is bat.

No, that doesn't mean that I'm a freak. I look just like you, except I have wings. Not ugly, veiny wings, but soft black wings that have a wingspan of almost twice my arm's.

I'm not alone.

There are five others my age and part bat like me: Harry, Niall, Louis, Crystal and Gwen.

We all lived in cages together, like lab rats for as long as we can remember, and to be honest, that's not very long. Now though, we've got a bit more freedom. We live in a home they call the "Orphanage". There's only two adults there, Mr. Crowell and Mrs. Hix. She is head of us girls, whereas he is head of the boys.
