Spade's next words surprised me. He held out the cards in one hand. "Would you please pick a card for me, love?" I eyed the cards with mistrust. I chose one at random and waited for further instructions. Spade grinned.
"Now I want you to look at the card and memorize it," I flipped the card over and hid it from Spade's view by curving my palm, then nod. "Great, now put it away and keep it hidden."
He angled his head away and I placed the card under my leg, as I had no pockets. "Now what?"
Spade shuffled the cards again before answering, his eyes meeting mine once more. Someone sneezed rather loudly at the same time Spade pulled a card out of the deck. "Is this your card?"
"Ha, nice try! My card it right..." I froze upon seeing the card Spade held in a gloved hand. The three of diamonds. "No way- How did you..." My hands slipped under my leg to check for the card, but they came up empty. "But I put it..." I trailed off, "How did you do that?"
"Magic." Spade's grin never wavered. I narrowed my eyes at him, but he offered no other response

I flinch and look back into his eyes. I feel hurt by his words and I don't know why, but I know he sees it in my eyes. His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes.
