An unknown virus has spread around the world at a rapid pace, causing the dead to come back to life as walking corpses. Scientists noticed the danger when it was too late, the world collapsed suddenly.

The novel tells the story of the Kaczmarek family, who, losing their sense of security, abandon their morals and question their humanity many times in an effort to survive.
