They all thought he died from what vitals said....but
Olive had made his tendrils grab him before hitting the ground, thus not hitting the ground and dying, it only said he died, because of what they saw plus his thingy to track if he died got far away and broke from the fall
Olive had got him and he was passed out from everything that happened...
