In order to avoid being betrothed to his cousin, Monty flees to France along with his best friend Nigel and their Yale buddies. Without his parties and women, Monty is forced to face his internal strife and repressed bisexuality. He eventually finds himself forming a bond with his host, Fritzroy von Köhlen, a German military veteran and fellow aristocrat.
