Leah has a friend who she wishes would go away. The only issue? Amelia is a ghost. But just when the girls think it cannot get any worse, Leah is chosen to join her classmates on a summer trip to visit Mirthstone. The town has recently reopened their illustrious Nightingale Theatre and plans to stage a production whose grand opening was derailed by a terrible accident.

But upon arriving in Mirthstone, Leah and Amelia realise that there's a lot more to the Nightingale Theatre that meets the eye. Who is that strange voice calling out to them from within the threatre's walls? And what should they make of its cryptic warnings, one of which is "do not trust the puppet's song."

Time is ticking and with less then a month before the show begins, two girls have to put their differences aside to figure out if there's any merit to the warnings they've been given.
