4 girls are chosen at random to compete in the Topaz Challenge. They begin in 6th grade and finish in 8th grade. They are given numerous challenges by their Topaz leaders who are in high school, and train them for 3 years. At the end of 8th grade, the girl with the most points will take over as the 9th grade Queen bee, and the 2 runner up girls will be her minions. The girl with the least points is ruled an outcast. The 4 6th graders are trained by the new 9th grade leaders, the 7th graders are trained by the same leader they had in 6th grade, and that leader was in 9th grade, but is in 10th grade now. The same applies for 8th grade who began in 6th grade with the same leader, and have been moving up grades, and the leaders have been moving up grades. Only the girls in the Topaz challenge know about the challenge, and they know who else is part of the challenge in other grades, and who the other leaders are. It's top secret. But this isn't some stupid high school clique game; Secrets, lies, and murder, are weaved into their lives. I follow the lives of 7th graders, Ellie Rosing, Alice Ohs, Tabea Sanger, and Lykke Jessen, who began the Topaz challenge last year with their leader, Alana Morris and her minions. This year, they're one year older, one year smarter, one year naughtier, and the challenges are one year harder. And the first challenge of their new year is to shag the new hottie on campus. Complications? His slutty french girlfriend. His busy schedule. He's in 11th grade. Let the games begin.......
