The 68th annual Hunger Games. Another year where 23 children would leave home and never return. Aren Harker wasn't sure on whether he would be okay with being reaped or not. No one wanted to, but if your name was drawn there was no option. His family barely having food on the table most days, he wanted to be able to provide them with more for themselves in his absence. He wasn't sure how his parents would react if their second child was reaped, just as their first had been. Aren's sister had been reaped 10 years prior, for the 58th games, and she didn't make it past the first 24 hours. He worried if his own name was drawn his fate would be similar.

But part of him felt, maybe, just maybe,if he was lucky, he could win.
