Brinley James is the popular cliche. Brin, as everyone calls her, has THE perfect life. A hot boyfriend, hot fashion, and a perfect family. She even has a bright future ahead of her because of her successful YouTube channel.
Celeste Ramirez is a geek, freak, or loser, you pick. Celeste has a TERRIBLE life. She has an abusive father, a drunk mother, even her brother sucks. Her future depends on her babysitting and Burger King jobs.
Things get a little crazy when Celeste wishes on a star that she could be popular, liked, even.. possibly.. happy. Nothing happens; or so she thinks until she wakes up in England.. and in a different body.
Celeste realizes she's turned in to one of her favorite youtubers Brinley James. She also realizes she has to remember everything she knows about Brinley (which is everything) so James Moran and Jake Mitchell - also her favorite youtubers - don't get suspicious.
Celeste is forced to face the fact that she's in New York with a terrible family and a completely different reputation. Facing her 'new' family is hard considering she doesn't know how; School's even harder since she's an outcast, not popular.
Celeste is finally better. She's got the one thing she's wanted in life: happiness. To makes things even more better there's a chance James Moran might have a crush on her. Her 'family' loves her and she's popular.
Brinley is adjusting. By adjusting; she's working through Celeste's family problems by making internet friends - all over again. In school she's beginning to talk to people and slowly making friends.
After a few months of being each other the girls finally switch back. Celeste comes back to a healthier family. Even has friends. Celeste is still unhappy though. She's back in New York, a long way away from James. Brinley is excited. She's excited how Celeste will feel about her new everything. Just one problem, James now knows about the life swap and is upset that Celeste is so far away.

After a bunch of run ins with the both of them, Sammi makes up a rumor about James, insinuating it was Emma who started it. James watches Emma embarrass herself on multiple different occasions, And still wont explain why he is upset with her. But, after Sammi gets a football player to put a cockroach in Emma's hair in class, Emma runs out to leave. She then runs into James, who Offers to give her a ride home.
