Four years after the death of his fiancée, Kalin is still stuck in the past, unable to move on. When he hears a rumor about a gemstone with the power to bring people back to life, he believes he found a solution to all of his problems. He decides to hire a Hunter to help him find the gemstone, but there is one problem-the Hunter in question turns out to be the very man who killed his fiancée. Lance never shied away from a job, no matter how shady or illegal it was. Killing people, making dangerous poisons, working as a Hunter to spy and get dirt on people-he's done it all. So when the leader of the Hunters' Guild asks him to find some magical gemstone, he has no reason to refuse. Until his client tries to kill him, at least. Driven by his desire for revenge, Kalin wants nothing more than to see Lance dead-except to bring Lydia back to life, something he cannot do without Lance's help.
