The war against the Giants and Gaia was worse than they thought; New Rome was destroyed, and Camp Half-Blood was left with those too young or unable to fight, leaving Percy and Nico the only remnants of a past life. In thanks, and their fathers' fears, they were made into gods, and were given domains. 

Percy, without Annabeth and his friends and family, is at a loss what to do; Nico appeared to be the same, constantly escaping his duties.  

But then they meet up again, reopening old wounds and a wish for companionship as young gods. Something isn't right under the grandeur and silence the gods have taken on, and they would do anything to find out what it is and fix it.

In the process of commandering for 10 thousand years, the two develop some very healthy crushes, and to us fangirls' delight, get together as a couple! The Fates aren't on their side, though. Chaos got called to Olympus to clean up the gods' little mess. Gaia AND Kronos AND Chaos' sister Order are loose in America, and Chaos' army has been summoned to help deal with them. and guess where the army'll be staying? In CHB, of course! Aside from fighting the bad guys' army, Percy and Nico also have to deal with nosy campers *cough* Annabeth *cough* trying to look under their hoods, stalking them, and generally not minding their own business. It's complicated. Just like everything related to demigods.
