Ever since I could remember, I've had a strange tattoo. I could hide it. Self control is everything. No one would ever know. Everything was going great. Until I couldn't hold it back any longer. It started to come out and show. After all . . . everything good must come to an end.
A world with magic and monsters. A world with beauty and danger. Kill or be killed. If you're lucky, train to kill demons in the academy for your whole life. Earning money and building your reputation. That's what it has been like for Alina. The only life Alina has ever known. But she had a good life. Even with little family, she is kind, and in an odd way, comforting . . . but only to her few friends.
To others, she was a dangerous, mean, cold person. And she is. She is one of the top students at the academy.
Yes, she is feared by.
Yes, she is a little lonely.
No, she didn't like to kill.
But a side of her did. A side that loved the smell of blood, the rush of adrenaline, how fragile everything actually was. How everything had a devil and angel.
She was born with that destiny. Alina had no choice. Maybe, she should just embrace it. Unless, somehow, she can change it. But how can one change destiny? Especially if Destiny herself has had her eye on Alina for some time now. Destiny is, after all, . . . unchangeable. Isn't it?

Why? That seemed to be a question you've been asking yourself a lot lately. Growing up in the underground was tough. You needed to fight for survival, food, money, and even-your freedom. Danny, you're despicable "father", had you stealing from him any chance he got. He was slick and manipulative. Having to steal valuables for him all while taking care of two kids, Kai and Mary, was really hard. The responsibility you held was weighing down on you, making you think more about them and less about you. You didn't mind though. Anything to stay away from the sinful place you call home. After a while of putting up with Danny though, you had you're last straw ripped away when he hurt you're beloved Mary. You ran away to start a new life, taking Mary with you. You become known as "Shade", a mysterious cloaked criminal known for your stealth and strength. You took pride in your reputation, and the best part was, nobody knew anything about you. From your face down to you're gender, it was all concealed. It was all cloaked. But all this changed once they found you. They took you in, capturing you to mold you into a soldier fighting for the survey corps. You despised the survey corps at first. After all, they stole you from your home. Took you away from the people you loved. They ruined your life, right? But... did they? You're stubbornness and skill capture the attention of a certain short black haired male. Corporal Levi was humanities strongest though, he couldn't like you, could he? He couldn't... At first it seemed strange but pleasant to finally get noticed, but soon you realized, nothing good came from the Corporal. In fact, your life seemed to turn into a living Dystopia. In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
