So, here's my spin on the lost colony of Roanoke who disappeared without a trace, except for the word "croatoan" left carved into a tree.
Hi!! This is a short story that I had to make for my mythology class! I had to take a nearby-ish landmark, place, person, etc. and turn it into an urban legend.

"Long ago in Silva Hills, a sudden noise of loud music and laughter echoed throughout the dark parts of the forest one night. The citizens who lived nearby were shaken awake by the sounds and were left sleepless. It was said that five people volunteered to investigate the source of the racket. The sounds stopped an hour later but....the group were never seen again. Some believed that whatever was out there, got to the unfortunate people while some think the group is stuck in some place and they can't get out. Either way, no one really knows for sure what happened to them." This story soon became a rumor the following years to come. Older people would use this tale to scare off children wandering in the woods at night. Pranksters would sometimes report that they've heard the same strange sound described in the story; and this is why everyone starts to debate whether this narrative is fictional or real. A newcomer will soon uncover whether this tale told by the townsfolk is true or not as an unintentional instinct leads her to where it is. But will the truth ever be revealed? Maria wasn't sure why or how the entity haunted her; she never played with a ouija bound and she never chanted Bloody Mary in her bathroom but on this particular day, when she was home alone, a huge terrifying Monster pounced on her from her closet and attacked her in her own room, the Monster itself was a huge, horrifying, sinister entity with startling glowing yellow eyes that seemed to stare into her soul. The Monster seems to only be interested in Maria and targets her specifically, She has no clue as to why it's haunting her, no, hunting her, but she's determined to find out and put a stop to it before it can send the grim reaper her way.
