Sainy Marlin, a seventeen-year-old girl from Marlowe, South Carolina, embarks on a journey of self-discovery and growth after a tumultuous past with Maximus, her first love. During a gap year taken to cope with her mother's death and to complete online school, Sainy transforms into a more guarded and resilient individual.
