When I transferred to Capesview University, I had one goal in mind: a clean slate. But, of course, my brother Bryce-the campus' golden boy wide receiver-had already claimed the spotlight, which meant I was immediately branded "Bryce's sister" to half of the campus before I could even introduce myself. Great. And then there's Arcas, Bryce's best friend and the quarterback. If I could sum him up in one word, it would be "annoying." Arrogant, charming, and completely convinced he's the center of the universe-basically everything I can't stand. So by some 'miracle', we're paired up for a massive project. Sure, he's confident, but he's also surprisingly sharp and quiet when it counts. He's not as loud as some of the other players, but that only makes his intelligence harder to ignore. It turns out he actually cares about school, and he's not just gliding through on his athletic reputation.
We're complete opposites. He's got this quiet intensity about him, while I'm all in when it comes to my work, no-nonsense. But when he switches gears, gets talking, and lets his extroverted side out, it's almost like a completely different person. It would be easy to write him off, except he's got this way of sticking around, and the more time I spend with him, the more I realize there's something beneath all that confidence. I was never going to fall for the guy, but plans change. Opposites attract, right? Funny how the one person I'm least interested in just might end up being the one who understands me best.
