"Lucien's lips brushed against her ear as he spoke, his warm breath sending shivers down her spine. His voice was low and intimate, each word caressing her skin with a tantalizing blend of menace and allure. She felt the heat of his breath travel down her neck, causing her pulse to quicken. His proximity was overwhelming, the scent of his cologne-something rich and exotic-filling her senses and making her head swim.
As he pulled back, his eyes locked onto hers, the candlelight reflecting in their azure depths, making them seem almost hypnotic. He watched her reaction with a smug satisfaction, clearly pleased with the effect he had on her.
Lucy shuddered, unable to discern whether it was from fear or an excitement she was unwilling to acknowledge. Her skin tingled where his breath had touched, and she felt an unfamiliar warmth spreading through her, confusing and unnerving her in equal measure."
