Moonstar Academy: A Generation Divided

The main character Lena Black, age 16, loses her mother to cancer. A year later her father, a wealthy doctor for the military, sent her to a private boarding school after her grades slipped while being homeschooled. During a time of intense social upheaval, Lena, a new student at Moonstar Academy, finds herself caught between the world of her conservative family and the radical changes of the 1960s. With the backdrop of civil rights marches, the Vietnam War protests, and the rise of counterculture, Lena starts a secret student group that organizes protests at the school over outdated rules and gender discrimination. Later she discovers an underground group of girls known as "The Sisterhood Rebellion," who quietly defy the social expectations of the time. Together both groups work as one to fight back against sexism, explore their own desires, and take on more leadership roles, all while tensions rise between the administration and students. Lena must navigate her role in the revolution and protect her friends from the headmaster, who enforces strict traditions.
