Miserable with his life, the protagonist wanders aimlessly through his life. He works a dull 9-5, living in a tiny apartment. His best friend, Miranda, is an addict who, despite her endless drama, he envies as she knows her place in the world. He's almost lost hope that anything will get better.
One fortuitous evening, he meets a girl called Viola. They spend a night full of romance, and continue seeing each other. She motivates him to pick up his life and soon he has a new job that he likes. They decide to buy a house together and end up getting married. Everything is just right in the protagonist's life...
Just as he is feeling like nothing could go better, tragedy strikes. Unable to cope, he sinks back into his depression and slowly, it poisons his life. He has everyone's support, but he's inconsolable. Over a few years, his friends start to distance themselves, his performance at work worsens and his marriage begins to falter.
As the lines between sanity and madness blur, he verges on losing his happy ending. How far will he fall?
