"This is a dead end! What do we do now?!" Sharon gasped, clutching her side. Olivia rubbed her back, eyes scanning the alley, bathed in the fading amber light of dusk. At the sound of footsteps, Charlotte whirled around, snatching up a stick and stepping in front of Sharon and Olivia.
"Stay back!" Charlotte yelled when they saw who entered. "You traitors!"
"Wait, please! You've got it all wrong!" Colton called, breathless as he, Xavier, and Atlas blocked the alley's entrance. "We didn't know this would happen!"
"Why are you dressed like wizards?" Olivia cut in, brow raised.
Atlas opened his mouth to explain but was interrupted by a loud crash deeper in the alley. "What the hell-Charlotte, get back!" Xavier muttered, pulling her behind him. She struggled but, seeing his stern look, relented.
A trash can rolled into view. The group tensed, ready for an ambush, when a woman emerged from the shadows. "Finally! Do you know how long I've been waiting?" she grumbled, brushing dirt off her coat.
Sharon stepped forward, eyes wide. "You? How...?"
"Oh, kiddo, there's so much you don't know," the woman sighed.
Olivia exchanged a wary glance with the others. "... Tell us everything."
"About time! Let's go. I know a place where we can talk. And boys," she added with a smirk, "please drop those wands. Not like you can *Expelliarmus* anyone with a gun."
