One day average teenager Light Yagami spots a strange, black notebook falling from the sky. His curiosity gets the best of him but the next day when he goes to pick it up he finds it is already gone. Soon after, he over hears about a new infamous murderer known to the world as "Kira" who often goes on killing sprees leaving many families in shambles and the world in shock. Worried about his father in charge of the investigation and desperate to stop these acts of cruelty, Light becomes determined to unmask Kira's true identity and put a stop to his reign of terror. However Light doesn't get very far on his own and on top of that he has to worry about studying now that he's gotten into To-Oh University. Just as Light is starting to feel hopeless he learns that his incredibly bizarre room mate, Hideki Ryuga, is actually the world renown detective known as L. Light and L soon join forces on the Kira case as they begin to create an incredible bond and unlikely friendship. Will L and Light be able to solve the case? And if so what happens when they do find the true culprit?
