Oliver Queen didn't end up on the island alone. His childhood friend and aspiring marine biologist Mia Walker accompanied him on the Queen's Gambit with a promised week for research in one of the nearby coral reefs. Three days into their journey, the Gambit sunk and they became stranded in the open ocean until they reached the island of Lian-Yu.
