cold feet; a jegulus fic

"Regulus Black is never going to catch a break.

He wants to bury his face in his hands and groan into them. The only reason he restrains himself from doing so is that the other figure skaters have started glancing over at him-probably wondering why the hell he's talking to a hockey player. Regulus would very much like to know too.

Oblivious to everything else, James raises an eyebrow towards Regulus. 'I guess we'll be seeing each other around, then?'

Seriously, how has James still not gotten the goddamn hint?"

When Sirius moves out, Regulus Black thinks that maybe James Potter will finally be out of his life too.

Good. Competition season is coming up, and it'll be his first year at the junior level. As the upcoming skating star of the Black family, Regulus can't afford to lose-and the absolute last thing he needs is a hockey player to mess everything up for him. All he needs is for James to stay out of his way, and he'll be good as gold.

James doesn't stay out of his way. And Regulus has a long way to go before he can even think about bearing a medal around his neck.
