As much as he tried to avoid it and hated it so much, somehow he knew deep down that in the mix of all his rage and drive to win, he observed more than he would have liked about his rival. He realized that something about Max goof was-in a weird kind of freakish way-cute.

Max' cheeks burned up and he felt more than a little dumb for it. But it was the truth. Bradley was pretty. Not just now but in general. Only it never really came through when he was acting like a massive bitch. But now, with Bradley looking at him without any malice in his eyes and still recovering from the previous events, Max could see. Bradley looked raw. His athlete suit dirty and torn at the sleeves, hair tussled and face bruised. His eyes tired and glassy and his cheeks pink. He looked real for once. Honest.
