Ever since Aliyah Pierre Lim was a child, she was an overachiever. Growing up, she saw how her mother had despised and was ashamed of her siblings for being unable to reach its great expectations in terms of success.

As the youngest of the family, she had no choice but to weigh the pressure her mother had put on her shoulder; she cannot afford its displeased look and after all, she was known as the obedient child.

On the other hand, Samuel Vergara was free as a bird. He's living like the main character that he is. Everybody wants to have the life that he wants for he is living the life of his dreams. . . or that's what the society thinks.

In this world where people are already fed up with their own problems, will two souls help each other to break the cages they are in? Will a human being exert an effort for another human in order for it to taste the freedom it has been yearning for?

Leena Nur was wrapping up her senior year at Leading Senior High this summer and with that, her domestic duties were also coming to their end. High school was nothing to miss for Leena. Instead, it was the bridge between childhood and adulthood. For the entirety of her life, she had been stuck there, forbidden to cross. Leena was neither young and never close to being old enough for anything. She considered it the curse of being the youngest and only daughter of a traditional East African family. As the sole daughter of her doting parents, Leena was their pride, their joy and also...their live-in maid. She was the youngest sibling of four brothers and as if being surrounded by them every living moment was not enough, her relentless neighbor, and brother's best friend made sure to loiter around to make her life worse. It was fine, she told herself, since she was determined to move out soon because of it. She knew she was close to the freedom she had been stealing tiny licks of since forever. She was graduating and that meant something so, so important. College. New Friends. And most irrevocably exciting, boys. If her father had heard that, let alone her brothers, Leena would have been locked deep inside her closet-sized room. However, she was determined they never would because by that time, she'd already be far away in America with her potential soul-mate, sipping hot cocoa and wrapped in lovely scarves she knitted. All she desired now, was to get through the rest of her high school career quieter than a mouse and receive that acceptance letter from UCLA. She could do it. Right? If she could just evade that annoying neighbor of hers.

Adem, a quiet, observant high school senior, is growing up in a culturally conservative Muslim household in a mostly white, suburban American town. To his peers, he's the guy dating Lexie Brighton-sweet, popular, and "safe." But the relationship is performative. Lexie is more image than intimacy, and Adem is exhausted by pretending. At school, Adem plays along with Islamophobic jokes and nicknames like "Terrorist Tom Brady" to protect himself from deeper isolation. At home, he's caught between a reserved father who prefers silence, a protective mother who disapproves of his relationship, and two sharp sisters who see through him-especially Mariam, his whip-smart, eye-rolling younger sister. The story's emotional shift begins when Adem shares a quiet, unexpected kiss with Danny, a longtime friend and artist who's open about his sexuality and calm in ways Adem envies. The kiss doesn't answer all of Adem's questions-it just cracks open the internal tension he's worked hard to suppress. After this moment, Adem begins to unravel. He grows distant from Lexie. He lingers longer in front of the mirror, starts caring more about how he presents himself, and begins questioning everything-his faith, his relationships, his future. He doesn't come out, but he starts becoming. Danny doesn't push for clarity or commitment-he simply stays nearby, offering steady friendship. Adem tries to reconnect with faith, but struggles to pray. He's ashamed to talk about his feelings with his parents. He stops going to parties with Lexie. He isolates himself before slowly, tentatively, seeking truth. As graduation approaches, Adem watches his peers embrace nostalgia he doesn't share. Later, in the empty gym, Danny asks: "Wanna sneak out?" Adem says yes.

And at 26 years old being plus size she figured finding someone to love wasn't going to be something she planned in her life. Usually when she caught a man's attention it was because he believed she was easy or for a fun time. But Adalia didn't want her body used for only enjoyment to a man. She always told herself she wanted something serious, not just a quickie. She believed eventually she'd find someone and she had plenty of time to find love. Maybe she was just a late bloomer. After 13 years of knowing each other and 11 years of being together, he was engaged to whom he thought was the love of his life. His fiance, Emily had other plans since she'd fallen out of love with him. Meet Alizah, the ultimate parent-pleaser extraordinaire! She's like the CEO of "Operation Make-Parents-Happy," always two steps ahead of what her parents need. If love was measured in mango pickles, Alizah would have made enough to last the whole neighborhood for years-because nothing makes her happier than knowing her parents are proud (and well-fed). She's not just obedient; she's the gold-standard role model for "I'll do anything for my parents," with a side of humor and a smile that says,"Challenge accepted!" Life was all smooth until one day-BAM! Her parents dropped the biggest bombshell: "We found the perfect boy for you!" Before she could say, 'Not Ready' she was already knee-deep in wedding prep, forced into a marriage she never signed up for. The boy? A soft-spoken, polite guy named Vivaan, who looks like the human version of a greeting card-nice, but completely unnecessary (in her opinion). Now, Alizah isn't one to rebel; she's the kind of girl who'd say "thank you" after getting scolded. But being obedient has *limits*-and they were crossed somewhere between picking bridal lehengas and smiling for selfies at pre-wedding shoots. In her mind, she plotted "Mission Sabotage" Unfortunately, nothing worked, because Alizah parents could win *Gold* in emotional blackmail. "Beta, we just want to see you happy," they'd say with teary eyes, making her surrender faster than a cricketer caught in an LBW. And so, Alizah steps into her new life, half in disbelief, half in acceptance-like a girl boarding the wrong train but thinking, "Well, at least the view outside might be nice in this fake world" "Some journeys begin without a destination."Whether this one leads to chaos or contentment, only time will tell. Prepare for laugh-out-loud moments, heart-tugging twists, and the sweetest mess of feelings!
