Eighteen-year-old Evelyn Ashbrook is a once-ordinary high school student who unwittingly discovers her extraordinary bloodline. As the sole descendant of both the Milesian people and the Tuatha de Danaan, she presents a threat to the tenuous peace between the tribes.

When her father dies unexpectedly, Evelyn's unique gifts have caught the attention of the dangerous Sidhe Fae known as The Oakman, who has been banished to solitude by the Fae Council for decades because of his malicious, power-hungry ways. Evelyn is the key to his freedom, and the only thing on his mind is vengeance. He needs her, and he will find her.

For six hundred years, Kearne Blackstone, son of the fallen king of the Tuatha de Danann, has been a deviant among his people. But Kearne swore to Evelyn's dying father that he would protect her, and now he is bound by that oath. The two of them must do the Council's bidding while secretly journeying through the realms of the Otherworld in search of a way to destroy the Oakman, once and for all. But for Evelyn, the most impossible task will be not losing herself to Kearne along the way.
