Somewhere in Algiers, where the scent of the Mediterranean mingles with memories as old as the Casbah, there's a small shop filled with bolts of fabric and the quiet hum of unspoken stories. "The Flag Maker's Daughter" unfolds here, in this city that exists both on maps and in the spaces between heartbeats, where a nameless narrator cuts and sews the colours of nationhood every Thursday at precisely 3:17 PM. It's a tale spun from the threads of routine and loss, woven around Amina-a young woman whose weekly visits are a ritual of remembrance-and her absent father, a martyr whose sacrifice ripples through the narrative like a flag caught in an unseen wind. The story doesn't shout; instead, it whispers of the ways grief and patriotism intertwine, of how countries are kept alive not just by grand gestures, but by small, devoted acts: the slide of shears through cloth, the touch of cool fingers passing folded fabric, the hanging of fresh colours in a dusty window. In the end, this narrative is less about the flags themselves and more about what flutters behind them: the idea of home, an intangible tapestry stitched from shared history, collective aspirations, and personal aches-an idea that, like the flag maker's meticulous craft, requires constant tending lest it fade into the background noise of everyday life.

Through thick and thin the Law shall prevail. A new sense of purpose awaits us, children of light, in the land where it all began. The darkness in which we once cowered in fear, now curbed by the might of our endless light. Come, brothers, come, sisters. Let there be peace among the wicked, just as the Law dictates. Peace and certainty is all that you have ever longed for, little angel. A bright, stable future. A roof without holes above thy head. Acknowledgement and recognition of thy existence, feverish dreams of grandeur. Greed born from yearning, treacherous vines of rapacity taint your innocent soul. You seek a future that does not exist. Let thy fingers hold the fragile line between dream and nightmare. Let thy light navigate the path. Shall thee give in and falter, O' land of old, envelop his body in thy unending flame of chaos. Spit out nothing but an empty husk, the remnants of a smile once so bright. Shall thee prevail, O', Great Kazdel, I ask of you, the impossible - take mercy on the innocent. Don't let the radiance dim and don't let the mind turn bleak. Wake, young traveler. Bid thy farewells and burn thy bridges. It's time to say goodbye, curly head. Cross post from AO3. For a shorter and more on-point description, look no further! I had something silly written up before throwing it out in exchange for that wall of text upstairs. It's a little story "about a young, dumb sankta who's been dealt a bad hand at life, looking for his place in all this mess. The pointless search for a better future leads him far, far away from home, to a country forever ravaged by war and misery - Kazdel, the promised land where devils roam free and peace feels out of place." Anyway, it's quite lengthy, but hopefully enjoyable? Slide a comment if you want, I'll give you a tiny kiss on the forehead. Man, do I love comments. (Lastly, to point out, English is not my native language, but I don't think it'll be much of an issue ;3)

"And We have made some of you a trial for others. Will you ˹not then˺ be patient?" The first time I read this ayah in surah Furqaan, I had no idea it defined my future so clearly. ********** Hafiz Hakimi;- A 26-year-old Nigerian-American who grew up believing those who worshipped something they couldn't see were crazy motherfuckers. But it wasn't like he would go out of his way to tell them his opinion. His life was perfect, a routine of work, party, fuck, sleep, and repeat. His only source of annoyance was the woman whose vagina he popped out of, but even she was very far away from him. Life was good, everything was great. Until one fateful trip to Nigeria, his home country, set off a tornado that wrecked his mundane to pieces. Aliya Suleiman;- A 22-year-old hafiza whose only goal was to finish studying medicine, the devil's course. She only planned to get married after making her first million dollars, a feat her best friend Jasra said was impossible. She wasn't offended of course, because she never planned to get married. And if she did, it would be to someone more pious than her, mature and respectful; indulging. But then the one person she couldn't say no to begged her with tears in her eyes to marry her son. She was the woman who raised her and provided for her mother and her. There was no way she could refuse. It was the worst thing to have ever happened to both of them. A sudden downpour on an otherwise clear sunny day. He wasn't anywhere near the kind of man she imagined herself with. She was the woman raised by the person he hated the most. It was basically a recipe for disaster. She saw him as a way to repay a favour. He wanted to use her to get revenge. And as such, the stage was set and the curtains lifted. ___ ⚠️⚠️⚠️: UPDATES ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS ___ 🚨 This is entirely a work of fiction. On the precipice of a potential World War III, humanity finds itself entangled in a web of its own making: escalating racial tensions, societal unrest, and a deep-seated fear of the "other." Into this volatile mix comes an unexpected element - the arrival of alien refugees, green-skinned humanoids fleeing their war-torn planet. This seemingly fantastical element serves as a potent allegory, forcing us to confront our own anxieties and prejudices regarding immigration, cultural differences, and the complexities of global conflict. The story follows the journey of a young Black girl, whose act of compassion towards a green child inadvertently sets in motion a chain of events that will reshape the course of humanity. Her simple act of sharing food becomes a symbol of hope, a stark contrast to the rising tide of xenophobia that sweeps across the globe. The UN's decision to grant asylum to the alien refugees, though seemingly humanitarian, ignites a firestorm of global opposition, highlighting the fragility of international cooperation and the ease with which fear can manipulate public opinion. But the arrival of the aliens isn't solely a tale of human prejudice; it is also a story of internal conflict within the alien race itself. A faction, choosing to remain on their war-ravaged homeworld, harbors a deep-seated hatred for humanity and plots a conquest of Earth. This creates a multi-layered conflict: not merely a battle between humans and aliens, but a war within a war, mirroring the internal divisions and ideological conflicts that plague humanity itself. This narrative explores the thin line between unity and division, the cost of prejudice, and the unwavering strength of empathy in a world teetering on the brink. It's a story that challenges us to examine our own biases, to confront the darkness within ourselves, and to choose compassion in the face of fear.
