About 1.5 billion years ago, the single-celled eukaryotes became the common ancestors of all multicellular plants, animals, and fungi. Fish evolved a primitive lung sac and four limbs, 350 million years ago, so they could crawl between fresh water swamps. About 250 million years ago, the ancestors of all mammals, were tiny nocturnal insectivores and, about 6 million years ago, we began walking on two legs. The most recent Ice Age (2.6 million to 12,000 years ago), severely reduced rainfall in Africa, where Homo habilis was evolving. In Homo erectus (1.9 to 0.5 million years ago), cranial capacity increased to between 850 and 1000 cm3 implying the phenomenal increase of 125,000 more neurons with each generation. Between 70 and 50 thousand years ago, Homo sapiens spread out from east Africa. Then, about 20,000 years ago, evolution made a sharp change in direction. After 250 million years, we ceased to be hunter gatherers. The Neolithic Revolution meant we could never go back. WHO THE HELL ARE WE? is a series of short books and videos describing the evolution of civilization. Almost everyone on the planet is five times wealthier than their ancestors only 50 years ago. This astonishing phenomenon has also improved health, education, and longevity. The cause; an explosive growth in ideas and productivity. It began when we learned to control fire, evolved articulate speech and stumbled onto the way to create infinite wealth; free trade. The discovery of agriculture made us richer but we also learned how to destroy wealth. Great civilization grew up but then disappeared leaving only incredible ruins and ideas. Later books detail some of the ideas and developments that increased the average life span from about 40 years to more than 80 and the average world income from less than $3 to more than $33 per person per day (and to $140 per day in some countries).

Cowboys and dinosaurs. Where the western world had saurian denizens as normal as six-shooters. The 19th century comes alive with an adventure of unlikely friendships and the battle against dinosaur cruelty and colonial skirmishes. Follow the trio: A shrewd businessman whose love comes unrequited, a devoted dino caretaker who refuses to tame her spirit, and a relentless hunter too reckless for his own good. Amidst the backdrop of daring shootouts, classic high-stakes train heists, and dinosaur hunting, they race against time to stop all-out war. ═══════ 𝙿𝚁𝙴𝚅𝙸𝙴𝚆 Randall's scowl deepened. "It seems we differ in our understanding of what constitutes cruelty to God's creatures. I have no desire to subjugate nature through force when harmony can be cultivated through ethical practices. Our goal is to empower mankind through merit, not shows of dominance." Shaw's smile tightened slightly at the rebuke. "You paint me as some brutal slavedriver. Where does your morality stand with the hadrosaurs that pull our carriages? The Centrosaurus' ploughing your fields without pay or vacation, helpless before any whip or spur? Even the natives have already made use of Pachies (Pachycephalosaurus) to safeguard their land. A few scars mean little to creatures that dedicate their lives to man's service. These dinosaurs depend utterly on humans for survival. We could shoot them all and make this a man's world when we wanted. Oh, that's right! We did." ═══════ 𝙰𝙲𝙷𝙸𝙴𝚅𝙴𝙼𝙴𝙽𝚃𝚂 x9🏆 Contests awarded x1⭐ FEATURED on @ReshapeIt (formerly @SpeculativeFiction) ═══════ 𝙷𝙸𝙶𝙷𝙴𝚂𝚃 𝚁𝙰𝙽𝙺𝚂 #1 | 19th Century (2025) #1 | 1880 (2023-2024) #1 | Animal Cruelty (2023-2025) #1 | English Literature (2023-2024) #1 | Speculative Fiction (2023) ═══════ Total Word Count: 88,700 [17 Jun 2023 - 5 Oct 2024]

[COMPLETE] Life Before Man - Fabian's Journey

5 parts Complete

Millions of years ago, before the time on mankind, the dinosaurs ruled the Earth. But even they started out small. 214 million years ago, when the mighty dinosaurs had just entered the scene, the juvenile Plateosaurus Fabian was born. Ever since his birth, he had to escape death and predation. But now, something even worse happens. The rains in the wet season fail to deliver and the dry season is even harsher than usual. Fabian and his herd must embark on a quest towards the lush plains near the Tethys. Will they survive? ------ Just a short Walking With Dinosaur-esque story for all dinosaur lovers out there. It follows a Plateosaurus named Fabian and his struggles to survive in a dry and harsh environment. Not expecting a mainstream audience, but I hope you still like it.
