Journey Of The Elements

My name is Sarah, I'm kind of special. I can create fire from thin air and control it like it's a part of me. There are others like me but controlling fire isn't as common as the five other elements some can control; ice, wind, earth, water and lightning. We are the few who can face the monsters that attack the people who don't have powers but we are outnumbered. Everyday more and more people die, either fighting the monsters that seek to kill us or starving to death from the lack of food we can produce within the walls. We are slowly dying out, if it keeps up like this the human race will go extinct. But there is a legend of a safe place, a place where the monsters cannot go, a place where we will be safe. Every twelve years the oldest members of the settlement hold a tournament, the participants from the ages of 16 to 25. The small group of people who win the tournament are sent out in search of the legendary safe place. I'm nineteen years old now, I'm old enough to enter the tournament. It's expected of me but will I be one of the ones to win? If so then will I be strong enough to survive outside of the settlement's walls? Will I be able to find the place all before me have failed to find? Or is it all really just a myth and I'm just being sent to a pointless death?
