With her father surviving the explosion, Prim realized how dangerous his job was and Prim demanded he teach her how to hunt incase he didn't get lucky again. With a family to help feed and protect, the worst thing that could happen would be for Prim to get picked on her first year eligible. Of course, the worst things always tend to happen.
