"It is safe." His crazy eyes refuse to believe me. "I am not lying. I took it out and hid it. But when my heart is not inside me, the scars from amber-lead syndrome resurface now and then. No, I am not relapsing, okay!"

"But why is your heart out?"

"It is insurance."
