Jordan Nimsby returns to her hometown of Eagle River in the Northwoods of Wisconsin after a failed career in Big City investigation and losing her cop fiancée to murder in the line of duty. She ends up camped out in her parents' tiny, "storage" cabin off Loon Lake and while working as a barista at a small coffee shop unexpectedly finds herself witnessing a crime. Her instincts took over, and she's now solved a couple of mysteries for the Eagle River PD with the massive assistance of her best friend from high school, Samantha Orwitz, who now happens to be a detective for the department. This time around, Sam calls Jordy with a cold case that has suddenly warmed up quite a bit. Is there really a ghost haunting a recently renovated resort north of town? The two women are determined to find answers.
