Keystone is hidden from the outside world, and its residents are bound by strict rules, including not leaving the city for more than 7 days. Rose possesses abilities gained from encounters with anomalies in Keystone.

Seeking employment, Rose visits the Color-Coded Cassette (CCC), an organization that deals with supernatural threats within Keystone. He encounters peculiar beings such as Possie the Banshee and Letigs the Ogre before meeting Plunder, the mysterious and somewhat sinister leader of CCC. Despite his initial discomfort, Rose impresses Plunder with his knowledge of dealing with spirits and is promptly hired.

Plunder assigns Rose to the team SOP and advises him to toughen up. As Rose leaves Plunder's office, the narrative hints at challenges and growth ahead for him in his new role at CCC.
