Just as Alex and Jo get back together and are on the right track his estranged little sister, Amber Karev, comes to town for a job interview. After some bumps in the beginning the brother sister duo patch up their relationship. Amber begins to lessen her resentment towards her brother who abandoned her while trying to save lives as a surgical intern. 
Meanwhile she starts a casual relationship with Station 19 firefighter, Maya Bishop, and adjusts to her new life in Seattle. She is appointed as Jo's maid of honor at Alex and Jo's wedding where many obstacles come in that one day. Despite this she is determined to see her intern year through with her head held high and her surgical skills heightened.All Rights Reserved
