Both girls seem to be living completely different lives, so it's a shock when Anneliese and Erika meet up, and the only two things that are different about them are their hair and their birthmarks (Anneliese has the royal birthmark; Erika doesn't have any). Suddenly, Anneliese is kidnapped by the minions of the royal advisor, Preminger. Not only that, but Erika rebels from the script and goes along with Rainbow Dash and Sunset to find her. Julian, getting worried, says that Applejack has to pose as the missing princess so they can find her, since she's the closest to Anneliese. However, Anneliese was to marry King Dominic the next week, and he's falling for "Anneliese." Translation: he's falling in love with Applejack. However, Preminger, who had staged Anneliese's kidnapping, knows something's wrong, that either Anneliese escaped so cleverly or that there's something else going on he's unaware of. Meanwhile, the real Anneliese has found herself trapped in the same dress shop Erika lived in, with Madame Carp mistaking her for Erika. The real Erika, Rainbow Dash, and Sunset have just made it to the palace, just as Preminger reveals that Applejack had been playing Anneliese this whole time. With all the confusion going on, will the movie reach the happy ending Pinkie knows and loves? Or will this story change for the worse? Sunset Shimmer discovers something surprising about Rainbow Dash as she is also caught in a passive love triangle. Meanwhile, Timber Spruce is becoming suspicious as Camp Everfree is over washed by an evil presence of equestrian magic that only the seven friends can stop. Azura and the other guardians of Fairytopia have decided to select 14 new apprentices to learn the Flight of Spring, one of the most important events that secures the future of Fairytopia. And the guardians want Elina and the Equestria Girls to be eight of them! They fly to the Crystal Palace, where they learn how the flight goes: they open the First Blush of Spring, which will reveal the first rainbow for the fairy world. Fail, and Fairytopia is doomed for ten years of bitter winter. Slowly, all fourteen apprentices get to know each other, with Sunburst, Elina, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack becoming the most competitive towards each other. But it's not like things can go perfect for long. In fact, Elina, Linden, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy accidentally get Laverna out of her frog form, and things get even weirder when Sunburst suddenly starts acting nice.
