Kosmonauts

It is 2053. It has been 25 years since Earth suffered a catastrophic World War III, which rapidly led to the unexpected fracturing of the major world powers and collapse of the global supply chain and economy. Hence came the deaths of hundreds of millions through famine, disease, civil wars and social chaos; yet soon unifiers of these world powers, namely the United States, Russia and China, brought together the national spirit of their respective countries through a singular goal that changed humanity entirely- exploring and colonizing the cosmos.

Infrastructure, logistics, and technological advancement was soon restored, but the hatred between the major powers and their populaces meant that the war on Earth was only now elevated to outer space. Although none of these nations could afford the resources to fight wars on Earth, the three major powers came together and drafted the "Extraterrestrial Mutual Combat Agreement", which gave all of them free reign to wage war in orbit or outer-space, barring a few exceptions.

This story centers on Maxim Zhuravlev, a starry-eyed 18-year-old Russian drafted into the Kosmonauts, where he soon finds himself on a journey not just into space, but the depths of the cosmos themselves. He faces enemies from China, the United States, and even his own comrades; he encounters friends, allies and acquaintances who enrich his understanding of the universe; and he finds himself confronting celestial anomalies, otherworldly creatures, and mind-bending phenomena.
