Summer has arrived, school's out and eleven-year-old Tess Wilson of Halifax, Nova Scotia, is restless and hungry for an adventure. Uninspired by the activities and interests of her peers, she'd like nothing more than to sink her teeth into the kind of mystery that recently placed her in the crosshairs of helping to solve two gruesome murders. But the horizon for another such escape looks bleak. Worse, her mother has unceremoniously signed her up to attend a summer youth camp in Chester, the beloved sea-side home town of her eccentric aunt Izzy. However, what seems like a punishment, turns into the experience of a lifetime! The dead body of a camp counsellor who mysteriously disappeared has washed ashore and the whole camp community is on the hunt for a hidden time capsule believed to contain an item that could save the cherished facility from a greedy developer looking to transform the area into a luxury retirement complex. Both events speak to Tess's innate passion for mystery and with the aid of her BFF, Chucky, she wastes no time plunging into the chaotic scene. Meanwhile, Tess's mother, Alice, finds herself on tenterhooks as she's forced to remain on the sidelines while bunking at Izzy's and caring for Tess's younger brother, Charlie, and the family dog, Riley. From here, she meets a host of colorful characters who help stir the pot by revealing key ingredients that heighten her sense of urgency to intervene. But are her fears valid or is she merely reacting to Tess's rich imagination for mystery? The only thing for certain is that as mother and daughter separately chase down clues their joint obsession to uncover the truth remains steady. There are too many red flags to ignore and the stakes are high. Something's got to give before it's too late!

Caroline Jones is a quiet, small, and--quite frankly--socially awkward 16 year old. She has had a lot happen and was thrown suddenly from a life of homeschooling to public school. To top it all off her parents are getting a divorce due to a tragedy that has just visited their family. She doesn't have any friends at her new school, and spends her time writing on a novel, or climbing trees with her cat. She is invisible... until Richie and Bernard kidnap her and she is thrown into a world that she only thought existed in fantasy novels. She is completely helpless. Mason Harvey is also a quiet kid, and he also had a rough past, but his rough past is from the fantastical world that Caroline was previously unaware of. Can Mason save Caroline from the two boys before she becomes forever enslaved? And what will happen when he discovers Richie and Bernard are not what they seem? *** Here's my little disclaimer, guys: This is a very happy-go-lucky almost romance that I wrote back in grade school. There is proper grammar and I personally think it has a fun plot, BUT there isn't much complexity to it. It's short and sweet if you want to give it a read :)
