Dan Howell has never been anything special. He's an average guy with an average house, attending an average school with average grades. The only thing is he's gay, and that's not necessarily uncommon these days. He'd never really said anything about it, rather preferred keeping it to himself for the time being. He's always been happy, sometimes too nice to others who didn't even deserve it.
Phil Lester isn't special. He never has been. He's not even average. He doesn't think himself worthy of the beautiful world he lives in. Depressed, yet observant, Phil looks on from the sidelines as everything happens in front of his eyes. He's bullied for his sexuality, which causes him to start to believe the vile words of the other kids at school. His trust issues don't help either.
When dark and light collide, what do you get? 
Something extraordinary.

I've read a bunch of phan, so why not write one? Dan Howell's life couldn't be any better at the moment. He has met the most beautiful, charming, kind girl he could ever imagine, and she loves him back. Everything is perfect... but not for Phil. Phil Lester has always been in love with Dan since the first moment he first met him, but now Phil's heart is crushed. He has some suspicions of Dan's girlfriend, but Dan just brushes it off, ignoring Phil completely. Unfortunately, Phil's bad feelings may be true... Sexual content, self harm, language, and domestic abuse warning. Also, I'm American, so if I get anything wrong, please tell me. ••• Update: This is very old (not really that old) writing! Dan Howell is deaf, always has been, and how he sees is always will be. When Phil Lester transfers to his school to try and help students with school, he meets Dan. You see Phil can hear, but is fluent in ASL as well as Dan. Roles seem to switch when Dan saves Phil's life, and finds himself falling for the younger boy. Dan is the new target for torment and beatings. But unlike Phil, Dan doesn't handle it very well, and finds himself spiraling downhill, with what seems like no way back to the top.
