Silas holds me down, his gaze locked on mine with a look I can't decipher- one I've never seen before. "Come on Amelia" he urges
I yank my head away, hoping the tears streaking down my face go unnoticed, even as the air around me twists into something I don't recognize. Something unsteady.
He lets out a sigh before grabbing my arm, yanking me off my butt, and onto my feet. "Life is filled with secrets and things you know nothing about, but you just keep using her death as an excuse to run away from your responsibilities "
He lets go of my arm, roughly throwing it as if touching me was equivalent to touching fire. "You need to grow up, Amelia; you're going to be a leader ... Act like it."
I let my brain process his words, process that I'm looking at, the Silas that resides in those twisted rumors and stories. The rumors I chose to ignore because I thought I knew the real Silas...I guess I was wrong.
"If growing up means lying and hurting people I love, means I have to act like you, I'd rather replace my mother, who's lying dead in a coffin. Then we wouldn't have to worry about the arrangement, or you being forced to train me. Would that finally make you happy, Silas?"
Amelia Rossi was a Kind, Smart, Loyal, and sweet person, just like her twin sister Malia. They always took pride in treating people as they would want to be treated.
They were the golden girls of the family because that's how their parents raised them.
The daughters of a doctor, a Lawyer, and an all-around hypocritical Liar, always keeping the twins in the dark.
What happens when one accident pulls everything into the light? When everything the twins were ever taught is thrown out of the window?
The twins, who were always told YES, no matter the consequences, now have a new set of rules.
And the rules have changed A lot:
No more being kind and sweet.
NO normal, carefree life.
NO more Happiness...Unless you make your own, but at what cost!
Sierra Esposito knew three things well. One- People were inherently evil and selfish. Two- Words are what got you hurt. Three- Sometimes it was easier to accept the situation, rather than fight back.
These three rules got her through life-- not unscathed, but alive. Even when she didn't want to be.
