I squeezed my eyes shut and shook my head. I couldn't let it get to me. With tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, I pointed the gun at her, with a finger rested on the trigger.

I opened my eyes just in time to see the mysterious shadowed figure emerging from the darkness. I felt my eyes widen as the pieces of the horrifyingly complex puzzle came smashing together.
