Catalina Mariposa Baillairgé is a girl who loves ballet, horseback riding, and her best friend, Flori. She's also incredibly smart. Genius. That Being said, she lives at Gregory Harrisons Boarding School for the Academically Advanced. But her bubble is burst when she is asked to tutor the star basketball player, Dakota Catawanee. Dakota is the typical jock with the personality of wet cardboard. Or so she thought. As Catalina tutors him day after day and spends more time with him, she learns more and more about this boy. Her goal is to tutor him successfully through the semester and get him to pass. Nothing else. But some goals just aren't supposed to be met.
