Emiliya Petrova is the little sister of Katerina Petrova, who soon turns into Elliana Pierce, the little sister of Katherine Pierce. Soon after the two sisters turned into vampires, they were on the run. Well, it was only Katerina who had to run, but Emiliya had refused to let her leave by herself, so she ran with her.

They ran for almost about 400 years until Katherine was forced to leave her little sister behind in 1864 when she faked her death, and although she regretted it deeply and was filled to the brim with guilt, in her mind, she had her reasons.

Meanwhile, 145 years later, Damon Salvatore returns to Mystic Falls to bring Katherine back, assuming she's in the tomb that was underneath the burning church. But he soon realizes that he needs help. He goes out on a journey to find an old friend of his, Elliana Pierce, in hope that she would help him bring back her sister. Then before the Petrova girl knew it, she was on her way back to the town that caused her such agony for 145 years.
