Eleanor Ridgby recently lost her father, with her mother already being dead, Eleanor and her four sisters are being forced to move out of their humble countryside cottage into a huge mansion to live with their aunt. Set in 1867, the sisters could only receive their parents cut of the fortune when one of them marries and since Eleanor is the oldest at nineteen: she is expected to do as such. Thrown into a new life of parties, suitors and drama, Eleanor navigates her new life with finding a husband, growing up, and taking care of her sisters with their new shift in family relations.
